On July 18, Assistant Minister of Commerce Chen Chunjiang chaired the 22nd joint meeting of trade promotion agencies of China and Japan and the Roundtable with Japanese Business Leaders. The meeting was joined by Yasuhiro Sato, chairman of Japan China Investment Promotion Organization (JCIPO), and over 120 business leaders of its members. On the Chinese side, the meeting was attended by officials from interested ministries and local authorities, including the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and the commerce department of Hebei province. They had the opportunity to communicate with Japanese business leaders and respond to their concerns.

Chen Chunjiang said that as the lead department of China-Japan Investment Promotion Commission, MOFCOM will give full play to the role of the roundtable to provide better services and create greater development opportunities for Japanese firms in China. The attendants said that thru on-site visits and seminars in China, they have gained a deeper understanding of China’s commitment to expanding opening-up and investment policies, and have a clearer picture of the prospect. Japanese firms are optimistic about the Chinese market, recognize the success in China’s continued efforts to deepen reform, and are willing to increase investments to China with full confidence in China’s economic outlook

The two sides also exchanged views on ways to improve the business environment for foreign investment, leverage the role of platforms for opening-up, facilitate personnel flows and exchanges, and the importance of reinforcing cooperation in elderly care, culture and recreation, and green and low-carbon development.
